The astonishly good Ireland XV that couldn't make the plane to South Africa

Ireland coach Joe Schmidt named a 32 touring party to South Africa today, and it's more than raised a few eyebrows. The omission of Ulster Stuart McCloskey, Connacht Matt Healy and Munster's Tommy O'Donnell in particular have drawn fire across social media.

All this got us thinking, what would the best XV available for Ireland but not selected look like?

Here's our best effort. We think it's a pretty decent side, and a strong argument could be made that there's more attacking potential in our selection than the one that face the Boks next month.

PS: We realise Ireland have a soft 'no abroad players' selection policy, but we threw a few into the mix regardless.
