Rugby Onslaught's Heaviest XV - RWC 2015 Edition

Rugby Onslaught's Heaviest XV is back, and this time it's personal...no, that's not right...this time it's the 'Rugby World Cup 2015 Edition'.

Of course there have been several 10 Top Heaviest players floating about the internet in the last couple of weeks, but we think a heaviest theoretical XV made up of the heaviest player in their position at RWC2015 is the more interesting proposition.

Sadly we have been hamstrung to a degree, as after reading the official RWC website squad profile, it was clear that many are just straight inaccurate. What we have done is look at club profile or directly solicited weights from players on Twitter.

Our general rules is that the players has to have played in said position on at least one occasion professionally, and we also moved players according around according to what would make a heaviest XV. For example we have put Sam Burgess/Thretton Palamo at 12 and moved Nemani Nadolo to the wing - where he normally plays for the Crusaders, but not where he plays for Fiji at international level.

There are also a number of positions where players are equal heaviest, there were a number of 130kg props this year for some reason. The one last thing to mention is we need your help. Have we made a mistake, have we missed a player? Tell us on Facebook or on Twitter, but please don't annoy us by suggesting players that you haven't bothered Googling the weight of first.

Average pack weight: 131kg/20st7Ibs/289Ibs
Average back weight: 116kg/18st5Ibs/256Ibs
Average player weight: 124g/19st8Ibs/273Ibs

Check out our 2015 Heaviest XV

1 Tomas Francis 6'1 132kg - The new edition to the Welsh squad apparently weighed 155kg in uni, before trimming down to 140kg as a professional. We understand he has lost a further 8kg in pre-RWC camp which puts him at 132kg.

2 Paula Ngauamo 6'1 122kg - On the official RWC site he's listed as 122kg, but he's listed elsewhere as 117kg.

3 Uini Antonio 6'5 145kg - The big daddy of World Rugby has been as high as 153kg at La Rochelle but we understand he is a svelte 145k these days.

4 Richie Gray 6'10 126kg - Although he's been listed anywhere between 120kg (Lions tour) and 128kg for Scotland, the great Scottish oak tree that is Richie Gray seems to have settled at 126kg.
5 Will Skelton 6'8, 140kg - They don't come much bigger than Big Willie Skelton, who tips the scales at 22 stone.

6 Opeti Fonua, 6'6 135kg - This is a very conservative estimate for Fonua, who last time we checked with his club was 146kg. The RWC site have him at 120kg which is laughable because if he gets any bigger he's going to need planning permission.
7 Mamuka Gorgodze 6'5 118kg - We had a debate on Twitter about whether or not the Georgian counted as a genuine openside but going on the French left/right backrow set-up we're allowing him at 7, where he has played in the Top and indeed for Georgia.

8 Billy Vunipola 6'2 130kg - Lancaster has gone record that the ethnic Tongan is again 130kg.
9 Mike Phillips 6'3 104kg - We stupidly forgot that Mike was parachuted back into the squad to replace Rhys Webb and he takes his rightful place as heaviest of kind in the tournament.

10 Josh Matavesi 6'1 114kg- The Ospreys halfback very kindly clarified his weight to RO, so yes, that's an 18 stone outhalf.

11 Alesana Tuilagi 6'1 124kg - The predator X of the rugby world, Alesana has been as low as 111kg but his Newcastle Falcons profile has him at 124kg so we going with that.

12 Sam Burgess 6'5 116kg - Say what you like about our Sam, but there's nout many as big at centre.
13 Matthieu Bastareaud 6 120kg - Matty needs no introduction and resumes his regular spot on our heaviest team.

14 Nemani Nadolo 6'4 125kg - While he more regularly plays for Fiji at 12, we've slotted Nemani on the wing where he plays for Saders. Fluctuates between 123kg and 130kg. Monster.

15 Vungakoto Lilo 6'2 110kg - We have been informed that the Montauban fullback in fact weighs 110kg and he replaces Folau at the back.
