It's OFFICIAL...RWC 2015 is most expensive major event in sports history

According to a report in the Mail on Sunday the Rugby World Cup 2015 is the most expensive sporting event...like ever.
The average ticket price at the tournament will cost an eye watering £104.14 or roughly €142 per ticket.

When you consider that roughly 2.3 million tickets have been sold for the event, that would suggest that total ticket revenue is in the region of £240 million.

Rugby Onslaught's logic is this - the more expensive something tends to be indicates the quality of said product. Ergo: Rugby is the greatest sport in the world, but we knew that already.

The England 2015 broadcast platform will also be the biggest-ever for a Rugby World Cup, with the eighth tournament set to deliver more than 20,000 hours of broadcast coverage in addition to a record online platform. According to World Rugby: "With World Rugby's objective to deliver free-to-air coverage in emerging rugby nations, more people than ever before will be able to enjoy the sport's showcase event."
