Manu Tuilagi reveals what really happened the night of his 'assault' charge
Rugby Onslaught finds it hard not to feel for Manu Tuilagi after listening to this interview...
"We pleaded guilty because we wanted the case done with," said Tuilagi an interview at the launch of the Pacific Warriors documentary, as recorded by the International Business Times. "I didn't assault any of the police officers. It looks like I have basically beaten up the two police officers, which is not the case."
According to the BBC, Tuilagi only came into contact with the female officers when he they approached him from behind, saying "so I just pulled my hands away". He added: "They touched me first and I had no idea they were police officers."
As it was announced that Sam Burgess makes the bench for England's opening match of the RWC against Fiji, it's also hard not to wonder what could have been, though admittedly Tuilagi's groin injury would have ruled him out of the competition in anycase.
The interview makes for an interesting watch.
